Terms of use
This site is a project of CNR Consulting. It sums up public weather and trail information, plus closure notes we keep by hand. We don't manage any land, we aren't a forecast office, and we aren't an emergency service.
You're welcome to use these pages to plan your own hikes. Check with the land manager and weather.gov before you go, and don't let this site be your only reason to start or skip a hike.
Forecasts, gauges, and closure notes can be wrong, late, or incomplete. When we can't confirm something like shade or water, we say so instead of stating it as fact. The Brown Mountain and Yetman pins and route lines are OpenStreetMap data under the Open Database License. If you reuse them, keep that credit. Our other sources are on the methods page.
If you upload a photo, you confirm that you took it or have permission to share it, and you let CNR Consulting show it on this site once it's approved. A photo isn't public until a maintainer approves it. We remove location data before the photo is saved. When uploads are turned off, the form tells you and nothing is saved.
The suggest-a-trail form asks for a trail name and area, plus an optional note and email. Suggestions aren't published, and the site never shows how many people asked for a trail. If you leave an email, only the maintainer sees it. It isn't shown to other visitors, our code doesn't write it to the site's logs, and we won't add it to a mailing list.
We don't sell personal hiking advice, and you don't need an account.
These terms are written in plain language and haven't been reviewed by a lawyer. Please read the disclaimer too.
